Rusty Coones sits behind the desk of his office in the custom motorcycle shop he owns in Orange County, CA. His imposing size is enough to drum up nerves in anyone, yet he seems happy and calm as he cycles through pictures of the incredible choppers he builds on a daily basis. He becomes increasingly excited as he begins to talk about the music he has been working on alongside his band, ATTIKA7, who are all present as they prepare for a photo shoot.

ATTIKA7 comes from humble beginnings to defy the odds and see Coones achieve a second-chance, something that is hard to do for someone with a tough story like his own. Rusty wrote the music for ATTIKA7 while he spent 8 years of his life in federal prison cells in Oregon and Texas. Fingered by federal agents as an associate of an organized crime ring, Rusty was incarcerated and news media was inundated with footage of the Hell’s Angels chapter president as he was arrested, tried and sentenced. Things were forever changed in Rusty’s life and left to reevaluate himself, ATTIKA7 was born.

Coones reveals, “The solitude resulting from years of incarceration and deprivation of freedom can put a man’s mind in a state of deep thinking and, in some cases, he will become inspired to write music that comes from a place deep in his soul that he otherwise would have never tapped into on the streets.“

Many of ATTIKA7’s lyrics were inspired by life inside the walls of prison and the music itself began to take shape as a suitable progression of the lyrical content at hand. Upon Rusty’s release, he was greeted by his wife and an astounding custom-built motorcycle from his friend Jesse James to welcome him back to his regular life. Coones quickly returned to work at his own shop and began his search for bandmates to bring the music he wrote to life. This was found in his friends Jay Rexx (vocals), Danielmark (drums) and former bassist of Ministry/ Prong, Tony Campos. Now, ATTIKA7 was a full-fledged band, creating heavy yet melodic music and rallying around a commonality of motorcycle lifestyle.

With more than 30 songs already written and the help of another friend, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise, ATTIKA7 found their way into the studio and recorded an incredible 12 song Album offering up a melodic punishment that was heavily influenced by Pantera, Rob Zombie, Metallica and Black Sabbath. The band quickly began playing shows throughout California and spreading their music for a mass of bikers and heavy music fans alike.

The band is set for a tour of the UK August 11th –August 21st of 2010. One of the stops is to play at the Bulldog Bash in England. They are also booked for the west coast dates on the upcoming Uproar Tour put on by John Reese, playing with Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold.
On another front the band is doing the music for a DVD with The Sons of Anarchy TV show that features Rusty (attika7 guitar player) and Rod Requejo building a chopper motorcycle to be auctioned off for the benefit off the Wounded Warriors Foundation. In addition to that Kurt Sutter, the producer of Sons of Anarchy is placing Attika7 music in the tv series for season 3 this year.

In 2010, the agenda is simple; ATTIKA7 is set to take on the world of hard music and tour as much as possible to bring their enthralling live show to the masses. ATTIKA7 are an in-your-face look at a world that is often subject to panic and questions; are you ready to discover what it’s all about?

The Deal With 44 plays a progressive style of hard rock, drawing from a myriad of dissident artistic, literary and social influences. The band released its first full length album, “A Fantasy of Phantoms” in November, 2009. The Deal With 44 formed in early 2008 when vocalist Jack Wilkinson and guitarist Aaron Sandock began writing songs together. In October of the same year, the band recorded a three song demo, entitled “The Cabin Sessions”. At the suggestion of a mutual friend, drummer Vic Stecenko joined the band, adding an unapologetically raw power to The Deal’s sound. Jason Funkhouser and Criss Rickey from the South Bend band Scoff had worked with 44 on “’Phantoms”, contributing stellar guitars and their trademark vocal harmonies. They officially joined the band shortly after production was completed on the album. As Shaun Christensen of the South Bend Tribune writes, “Phantoms” is “the intricate, heavy and exemplary love-child of this alternative heavy rock family, representing as much about the individuals in The Deal With 44 as it does about the group itself.” Anyone who listens to “A Fantasy Of Phantoms” or is fortunate enough to attend one of 44’s live shows will understand exactly what that means.

http://www.geminisyndrome.com

Bursting on the scene, comes Gemini Syndrome from Los Angeles. And by bursting that is no understatement. Although only officially a band since January 2010, they are poised to become the next big thing happening in music. Their spectacular live show, brilliant musicianship accompanied by Aaron Nordstrom’s melodic voice that still retains that metal edge, have raised the bar in the Los Angeles rock scene.

Rich Juzwick (Guitar) – Gemini Syndrome was borne out of Rich’s great riffs with an ear for arrangements and the development of the music.

Aaron Nordstrom (Vox) – His melodic harmonies prefacing clear legible growls are fantastic, and his tone, timing, and lyrics are what make him a truly talented vocalist.

Brian Steele Medina (Drums) – Incredible backbone and clean beats, that aren’t over bearing. A very visual drummer with great stage presence.

Mike Salerno (Guitar) – Brilliant guitar player whose rhythms set the tone for the harmonic flow of the music, and backing vocals that make the live show sonically full.

Alessandro “A.P.” Paveri (Bass) – Talented italian born bass player that lends not only exceptional bass lines to the rhythm, but his unique bass style is also vitally important to the bands sound.

Gemini Syndrome is one of those perfect storms that come along in music every now and then, to create a package that works wonders. By no means is this is “local” band trying to make it in the scene. Produced by Mikey Doling (Snot/Soulfly/InVitro), even their live show lends credence to the fact that this is a polished product, ready to conquer. Their songs are hook after hook and are radio friendly tunes that connect with listeners, regardless of what genre they follow. That is the key; this is not a metal band or pop band or any one thing. They incorporate many influences to develop their own sound that crosses over musical genres. As well produced as they are, their live performance is every bit of what is on their recordings and so much more.

An all in one musical anomaly, a modern day Renaissance man, Avery Watts has been deemed the “New Face of Rock N’ Roll” (CBS).
With an impressive list of musical talents and achievements, he has been celebrated for his unparalleled abilities as a uniquely creative artist and equally thrilling live performer.
Having only first hit the eyes and ears of Tampa Bay in October 2008, Not Tonight Josephine have since attacked the Florida rock scene at a frenetic pace. With five members sharing years of musical experience, from pop to modern rock to screamo to metalcore; the love these guys have for being on stage and putting on a show is more than obvious. By landing opening spots for national acts such as Framing Hanley, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Anberlin, and Sick Puppies; performing at Tampa radio station 97X’s Backyard BBQ; and playing just about every rock venue in the state multiple times – all in just over a year – Not Tonight Josephine have quickly become one of the most buzzworthy rock bands in Florida. Their debut EP, This Orphan Heart; recorded and mixed by Brett Hestla and full of cranked guitars, soaring, in-your-face vocals, and hard-hitting, driving rhythms; is available now at iTunes and most digital outlets.
The five members of STONE SOUR took part in a press conference earlier today (Thursday, June 10) at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg in southern Sweden. You can watch raw video footage of the question-and-answer session in three parts below.

STONE SOUR has announced a September 7 release date for its much-buzzed-about new album, “Audio Secrecy”. “It’s probably the best thing I’ve done in a long time,” lead singer Corey Taylor recently told MTV News. “We recorded 18 songs — and knowing that every tune not only has its own identity but is damn good, I’m very, very proud of that.”

The band is giving fans a sneak preview of the album by offering a limited-time download of a new song titled “Mission Statement”. Says Taylor, “In this day and age, it’s important to be strong enough to know who you are. This song is not only a rallying cry for us, but it says everything about what this album means to us. This is just the beginning.”

“Mission Statement” is available for 48 hours only beginning today (Thursday, June 10) at 11 a.m. EST. The track can be downloaded at www.stonesour.com.

On Wednesday, July 29, Carl Sundberg from Eugene, Oregon’s 101.5 KFLY radio station conducted a phone interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE). When asked about his status in Ozzy’s band and recent reports that Osbourne was auditioning other guitarists for his solo group, Zakk said, “I’ve gotta be honest with you. The boss [Ozzy] hasn’t even given me a phone call, so I mean… I’m just like… I don’t know what’s going on over there. Are we doing this thing or are we not doing it? When I keep getting asked these questions, I go, ‘Call the boss. When he tells you, then he can call me back.’ I mean, it’s just like… I love you, man. Whatever you want, that’s cool. But if we’re doing this, let’s do it, and let’s whoop some ass. But if you don’t wanna do it, then just give me a heads-up. Call me, man. Tell me what the hell’s going on. I don’t know what the hell’s going on over there. We’re working on the new record, we’ll be back in September, we’ll work on finishing the record. And then we’re supposed to do the tour. I mean, it’s like, dude, you don’t wanna play with me anymore? Fine. Play with whoever the hell you wanna play with. I couldn’t give a rat’s ass. Like I’m gonna get all jealous or whatever. But you know what?! Man up and give me a phone call and tell me what the hell’s going on. You finished with me? Cool. I mean, it’s just like… Everything’s sounding like BLACK LABEL? [Referring to Ozzy's claim in a recent interview that his solo albums were beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY due to Wylde's involvement with both projects — Ed.] I guess everything sounded like BLACK LABEL when I first started with you, when I was 19. It was still the same guy; I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Zakk’s rambling response — including a 30-second, expletive-filled rant directed at Ozzy (which wasn’t transcribed above due to extensive bleeping) — is available for download as an MP3 audio file at this location.
