The big festivals of 2010 kicked off in June with the Download Festival where Orange fielded a strong team including Jim Root with Stonesour and Kerrang!’s best new act The Young Guns.

Next on the fixture list this weekend is T in the Park which will see a hard hitting line up of Orange endorsee guitarist and bass players using their gear. Exciting players include the British electronic dance band Faithless, Brit Award nominees Scouting for Girls, and the infamous Baby Shambles to name but a few.

Moving on the High Voltage Festival you can see such acts as heavy metal super group Down, Orange Goblin, Clutch and Lethargy displaying their Orange amp skills.

Sonisphere rounds up July with internationally recognised alternate rock band Placebo, and three of the best British metal bands Bring me the Horizon, Gallows and Skindred hitting the pitch.

The August festival finale brings V and Reading Festivals. Brit award winner Florence and the Machine, Q’s best band 2009 White Lies, are with The Magic Numbers representing Orange at V. While Reading sees Queens of the Stone Age, joined by NME best music video winners Biffy Clyro, serial Kerrang! award winners Lostprophets, Kerrang!’s Hall of Fame winners Limp Bizkit , Alkaline Trio, Against Me, The Gaslight Anthem, Weezer and pop-punk’s current golden boys You and Me at Six.

Following his time palling around with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones in Them Crooked Vultures, Josh Homme is getting back to leading his primary outfit Queens of the Stone Age. According to an interview with Rolling Stone, Homme will take his hard rock band into the studio in the fall, following some festival dates in Europe. So what will the next Queens album sound like?

“I have ideas already absolutely. It’s all about wiggling hips,” Homme said. “The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of [2007’s] Era Vulgaris.”

The frontman said he hopes to have the new record out by the middle of 2011. In the meantime, Queens of the Stone Age will re-release their 2000 classic Rated R in a special edition featuring live tracks and b-sides (including covers of Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” and The Kinks “Who’ll Be the Next in Line?”). The deluxe version comes out August 2.

Homme is also reinvigorating his music label, and home to Desert Sessions and Eagles of Death Metal albums, Rekords Rekords. He wants to release a box set of all the Desert Sessions records, but first the label will drop Queens bassist Alain Johannes’ solo debut, Spark. The album, dedicated to Johannes’ late wife (and Queens keyboard player) Natasha Schneider, will be released August 31.

Korn are to perform in an eerie crop circle which they helped create in a field near their native Bakersfield, California.

The group worked closely with expert circle makers on the design, which features a series of intricate circles and includes the band’s logo, and now they’ll perform in the centre of the field art.

Their 80 minute set will mark the first time a mainstream rock act has performed such a gig.

Frontman Jonathan Davis says, “The setting and the mood took us into a totally new direction musically. We took the opportunity to stretch out and experiment with the performance. I don’t think we’ll ever be the same.

“We spent a lot of time fooling around in the wheat fields and corn fields surrounding Bako when we were kids, and it gets pretty spooky out there at night. That’s where we got the inspiration for the whole thing, so we decided to have some fun.”

Footage of the concert will debut on MySpace.com on Monday (Jul-12-2010).

The Deal With 44 plays a progressive style of hard rock, drawing from a myriad of dissident artistic, literary and social influences. The band released its first full length album, “A Fantasy of Phantoms” in November, 2009. The Deal With 44 formed in early 2008 when vocalist Jack Wilkinson and guitarist Aaron Sandock began writing songs together. In October of the same year, the band recorded a three song demo, entitled “The Cabin Sessions”. At the suggestion of a mutual friend, drummer Vic Stecenko joined the band, adding an unapologetically raw power to The Deal’s sound. Jason Funkhouser and Criss Rickey from the South Bend band Scoff had worked with 44 on “’Phantoms”, contributing stellar guitars and their trademark vocal harmonies. They officially joined the band shortly after production was completed on the album. As Shaun Christensen of the South Bend Tribune writes, “Phantoms” is “the intricate, heavy and exemplary love-child of this alternative heavy rock family, representing as much about the individuals in The Deal With 44 as it does about the group itself.” Anyone who listens to “A Fantasy Of Phantoms” or is fortunate enough to attend one of 44’s live shows will understand exactly what that means.

According to The Pulse of Radio, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and THEM CROOKED VULTURES guitarist and singer Josh Homme told RollingStone.com that once the QUEENS finish a run of European festival dates they’ll settle into making their sixth studio album this fall. He said, “I have ideas already, absolutely. It’s all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of (2007 effort) ‘Era Vulgaris’.” Homme added that he hopes to have the new QUEENS record out by the middle of next year.

In the meantime, fans will have to content themselves with the deluxe reissue of the band’s second album, 2000′s “Rated R”, which will arrive this fall with B-sides and a complete concert included.

Homme hinted that the group has also played with the idea of performing all five of their albums in concert, explaining, “We’ve talked about how much we enjoyed when CHEAP TRICK performed their first three records and we’ve thought about doing five nights for each record. It’s been discussed — after a few shots.”

Homme has also revived his custom record label, Rekords Rekords, and plans to launch a new series of his famous “Desert Sessions” jam sessions, a box set of all the previous “Desert Sessions” recordings and the solo debut from QUEENS and THEM CROOKED VULTURES guitarist Alain Johannes. That album, called “Spark”, is due out August 31.

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has finished work on his long-in-the-making debut solo album, but doesn’t expect to release it until after the next record from Staind arrives.

Lewis told The Pulse of Radio that he wants to finish out Staind’s current recording contract before putting out his own project. “Once Staind goes in this fall and does their final record, then when I go and do my actual solo record it’s free and clear of any record label obligations,” he said. “These days with viral marketing and everything else that you can do as an alternative means of getting music out there, we’re gonna try to do it outside the box a little bit.”

Although Lewis at one point planned to issue a live solo recording this year as a preview of the full studio effort, those plans seem to be hold for now.

The singer told Billboard that he and the rest of Staind will probably regroup after a year-long break in November to begin writing the follow-up to 2008′s “The Illusion Of Progress”.

Lewis said his solo album has a definite “country flavor” to it, explaining, “It’s acoustic guitar based and I recorded it in Nashville with a bunch of country session musicians. So it’s kind of somewhere between country and James Taylor and ‘It’s Been A While’.”

The proposed first single, “Country Boy”, features guest spots by Hank Williams Jr., George Jones and Charlie Daniels. Lewis plans to tour behind the record when it is released.

10 Years are readying their brand new full length album entitled ‘Feeding The Wolves,’ for release on August 31. The first single, titled ‘Shoot It Out’ is due out on iTunes and Amazon on July 6th. The single’s hard hitting sound is said to be a good representation of the Tennessee quartet’s anticipated new album.

Madina Lake’s bassist, Matthew Leone, was taken to the hospital after being beaten unconscious after trying to defend a woman in the streets of Chicago.

Matthew’s twin brother and frontman of the the band released some details of the altercation:

“i’m afraid I have some of the worst news that has ever hit our lives. It’s almost impossible to even type this update. A few nights ago, Matthew walked from my apt. a block and a half down the street to meet a friend for a drink. half way there he saw a man severely beating his wife. Being the most amazing, strong, heroic and incredible person I know.. even though the guy was twice his size, Matthew intervened. He managed to subdue this guy for a second and since his wife was beat up pretty good called the cops.. as he did so the guy jumped him from behind and beat him. This guy did things I can’t even type. After words, he and his beaten wife left Matthew unconcious on the street. Matthew is in the hospital with a third of his skull removed as we wait for the swelling in his brain to go down. I’d rather not share any additional information at this time besides the fact that he acted as a hero (as he always would in any of these situations) and is paying a horrific price. Pease send all your love and good energy and vibrations to him. I’ve been and will be next to him throughout the entire recovery process. We don’t know enough yet details about how that will develop.. but it has shocked, stunned, disgusted our best friends, family and band (which are both). The world can be evil beyond belief and as much as we want this evil eliminated, right now our hearts heads and energies need to go to my best friend, soul mate, hero, and angel, Matthew. Love you all and will be in touch as soon as I can muster up the emotional energy to reach out again. Please, be safe and peaceful as we get through this impossible time.”

STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static was interviewed on June 18, 2010 edition of “Uncensored Net Noise”. Here are some excerpts from the interview.

On whether there is any truth to the Internet rumors that STATIC-X has broken up:

Wayne: “Well, that’s not a yes-or-no question. It’s more complicated than that.

“Let me give you a little background.

“STATIC-X has never been a band where the four guys get into a room together and jam and write songs and all that kind of stuff.

“Here’s the way STATIC-X has always worked: I write all the songs by myself — totally and completely by myself — I give demos to the other guys, and then they add their parts to it, and then we argue about stuff and compromise and it turns out being STATIC-X. And so my whole idea was, [with the upcoming PIGHAMMER solo project] I just wanna do it by myself. I write everything myself anyway. So I’m recording everything myself — no compromising.

“This PIGHAMMER record is supposed to be a side project. And it just so happens that at the same time I’m recording this record, our contract was up with Warner Bros., so it’s time for STATIC-X to re-sign. So Tony [Campos, STATIC-X bassist] dropped out [of the band]. So Tony’s out and it’s up to me if I wanna do another record as STATIC-X — with Koichi [Fukuda, guitar] or Nick [Oshiro, drums] or whoever I want to be in STATIC-X. But Tony’s out of the picture for sure — he dropped out; he doesn’t wanna do it anymore.”

On Tony’s reasons for leaving:

Wayne: “I haven’t talked to him about it. He’s been playing a lot of childish games over the last couple of years and dropping little lies here and there about me. Like, he said that I’m doing a record with my wife [former adult-film star Tera Wray] and that’s why STATIC is on hold. And I was like, ‘C’mon, dude. I’m doing a solo record.’

“I think he’s jealous ’cause I have the hottest wife in the world. Honestly, that’s what I really think.

“But anyway, that’s the situation. I have not officially closed the coffin on STATIC-X. My plan was to do this solo record and then do another STATIC-X record. Tony decided he doesn’t wanna do it anymore, so I’m not really sure where that puts things — if STATIC-X is still gonna be STATIC-X without him. I think it could be. Right now I’m just kind of focusing on getting my solo record done, which is absolutely awesome. It’s some of the greatest stuff I’ve ever written. I’m going back and doing some singing, kind of like I did on [2003's] ‘Shadow Zone’, but it’s still got all the full-on screaming that everyone likes, too. It’s a little more electronic-sounding, kind of like [2001's] ‘Machine’ was — more keyboards and loops. And I’m really excited about it.”

On being the sole creative force in STATIC-X:

Wayne: “I’ve always tried to keep the same guys in the band for our onstage chemistry, [but] in fact I’ve actually written and produced everything that the band has ever put out.”

On whether STATIC-X will sign with a new label or re-sign with Warner Bros.:

Wayne: “I actually re-signed with Warner Bros. on my own. They’ve been really good to us and all the people over there are great; they love me and I love them. So I’m just sticking with them. So my solo record will be coming out on Warner as well.”

On a possible release date for the PIGHAMMER debut:

“I’m hoping before the end of the year. I’m guessing I’m a few weeks — maybe four, five, six weeks tops — from actually finishing recording. And then from there it takes the label three or four months to put it out, so I’m hoping to get it out by fall.”

On whether there will be any touring behind the solo project:

Wayne: “Yes, absolutely. I’ve got some people lined up. I’m gonna have my wife playing bass on it — like a hot chick bass player on stage, you know what I’m saying?! And then I’ve got Bevan Davies [drums; JERRY CANTRELL, DANZIG, COMES WITH THE FALL], who actually has played with STATIC-X twice — he’s done two tours with us when Nick couldn’t do it; he filled in a couple of times. And then I’ve got another buddy of mine who’s probably gonna play guitar. But that’ll all come in time. Right now, like I said, I’m just focusing on the recording part.”

On the possibility of STATIC-X carrying on in the future:

Wayne: “No matter what, Wayne Static will march on, and the music that I’m writing for my solo record is gonna sound very much like STATIC-X — I think it’s gonna be a little more straight to the point and a little less compromised — but I agree with you there’s an onstage chemistry with all the guys that some people may miss, but the music’s gonna be slamming, just like any of your favorite STATIC-X records, so I will go on no matter what. And we’ll see what the future brings as far as all the other guys jumping back in or not.”

Anberlin is preparing to release their highly anticipated fifth studio album on September 21st. The album, titled Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place will be produced by Brendan O’Brien. The lead off single from the album, a track called “Impossible,” is expected to debut in the coming weeks. “We Owe This To Ourselves,” another track from Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place, will be the main song used on ESPN’s X-Games this summer.

The forthcoming record follows Anberlin’s New Surrender, which was the band’s second album to debut in the Top 20 of The Billboard 200. “Feel Good Drag,” New Surrender’s first single, hit No. 1 on the Modern Rock charts and now holds the record as the longest-charting single in Modern Rock history. Named 2009′s “Rock Song of the Year” by FMQB, it will be a featured song on the in-store version of “Guitar Hero 6,” due out this September.

Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place – which takes its title from a line in Dylan Thomas’ “Poem On His Birthday” – examines the battle implicit in life and in love. “Love is a friction, a chemistry,” says Anberlin’s front man, Stephen Christian. “We need to fight it out in a good way, not with threats of leaving, but to, in love, find an understanding.”

Sacramento’s DEFTONES were the musical guest on this past Friday night’s (June 4) edition of ABC-TV’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” For the telecast, DEFTONES performed “Diamond Eyes”, the title track from its latest album, as well as “Change (In The House Of Flies)” over the show’s closing credits.

DEFTONES’ new album, “Diamond Eyes”, sold 62,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart.

DEFTONES’ last album, “Saturday Night Wrist”, opened with 76,000 units back in November 2006 to land at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart.

“Diamond Eyes” was released on May 4 via Warner.

The iTunes deluxe edition of “Diamond Eyes” contains three exclusive cover versions:

According to The Pulse of Radio, TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan told RollingStone.com on Thursday (June 10) that the band is “quietly working” on a new album that will be released “when it’s ready.” Asked if the group might possibly test out some new songs on the road this summer, Keenan said, “If it comes together, yeah, you’ll hear some new stuff. If it’s not ready, you won’t.” The band’s summer trek kicks off on June 19 in New Orleans.

Keenan hinted that the tour might include some new visuals, although he also joked, “Maybe I’ll just come out in my birthday suit. A 46-year-old naked dude running around onstage. Let’s see how that goes over.”

The singer, who’s been working with side band PUSCIFER and tending to his vineyards for the last couple of years, also said that a fourth album from his other act, A PERFECT CIRCLE, is in the early stages, explaining, “We’ve got some riffs and some music. It’s just basically playing it over and over again while driving and waiting for things to fall into place.”

TOOL’s last album was 2006′s “10,000 Days”, while A PERFECT CIRCLE issued “Emotive” in 2004.

The five members of STONE SOUR took part in a press conference earlier today (Thursday, June 10) at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg in southern Sweden. You can watch raw video footage of the question-and-answer session in three parts below.

STONE SOUR has announced a September 7 release date for its much-buzzed-about new album, “Audio Secrecy”. “It’s probably the best thing I’ve done in a long time,” lead singer Corey Taylor recently told MTV News. “We recorded 18 songs — and knowing that every tune not only has its own identity but is damn good, I’m very, very proud of that.”

The band is giving fans a sneak preview of the album by offering a limited-time download of a new song titled “Mission Statement”. Says Taylor, “In this day and age, it’s important to be strong enough to know who you are. This song is not only a rallying cry for us, but it says everything about what this album means to us. This is just the beginning.”

“Mission Statement” is available for 48 hours only beginning today (Thursday, June 10) at 11 a.m. EST. The track can be downloaded at www.stonesour.com.

Korn are joining with others all around the world moved to keep British Petroleum accountable by boycotting the company.

“We need to do our part to let BP know there are consequences for causing something like this,” frontman Jonathan Davis said via a press release. “We want to send a message to corporations like BP so that they will take more preventative measures in the future. The more costly their punishment, the more money they will spend to make sure disasters like this don’t happen again. It’s plain and simple capitalism.”

This summer, Korn are headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest (alongside the likes of Rob Zombie and Lamb of God). Davis is encouraging the bands on the tour to join in avoiding use of all BP oil and partnering companies for their buses and vehicles.

For Davis, guitarist Munky and bassist Fieldy, this disaster echoes back to the impoverished hometown they grew up in near Bakersfield, Calif. that was landscaped by oil rigs. Their newest video, ‘Oildale (Leave Me Alone)’ the new album album ‘Korn III — Remember Who You Are,’ details the struggle of life around oil.

Rage Against The Machine have hinted that they may record a new album following their free gig in London’s Finsbury Park.

The band played the show as a thank you to fans after beating The X Factor contestant Joe McElderry to the top spot last December.

They have now told Nme they may use the momentum to get back in the studio to make their first new album since 2000′s “Renegades”.

“I think it’s a genuine possibility,” said singer Zack de la Rocha of recording a new album. “We have to get our heads around what we’re going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we’ll take it from there.”

The band are set to play the O2 venue in Dublin today (June before headlining the Download festival on Saturday (12).

According to The Pulse of Radio, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have announced a 14-date tour of “intimate” venues that will begin on July 6 in Cleveland and finish up on July 24 in Memphis. This will be the bands first live appearances since December 2008 and will also introduce new members Nicole Fiorentino on bass and Mike Byrne on drums alongside guitarist Jeff Schroeder and founder/frontman Billy Corgan. The shows will feature “a balance of classics, a few obscure ones, and new Teargarden material,” according to Corgan.

Last week, the PUMPKINS released the four-song “Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Vol.1: Songs For Sailor” EP, the first of 11 specially-packaged, limited edition EPs that will eventually collect all 44 songs from the bands “Teargarden By Kaleidyscope” album, which is in the process of being recorded.

The four songs were originally issued one at a time as free downloads, before being bundled in the extras-laden boxed EP.

The PUMPKINS are planning to invite selected fans to attend their soundchecks on the tour, with Corgan explaining, “We are going to do something unique, which is play an invite-only set during sound check of almost all new, unreleased songs. Were still figuring out a way to make it possible for some of the fans wholl be in the line outside waiting to get in for that.”

The New York Times reports that the inquiry is based around allegations that the company has been persuading record labels not to give exclusivity deals to Amazon.com, a rival of its own iTunes service.

The sources who revealed the information to the newspaper spoke on the condition of anonymity, with representatives for Apple, Amazon.com and the Justice Department refusing to comment.

The Amazon.com-related allegation first surfaced in March, when reported by Billboard.com.

It was claimed that Apple pulled marketing for songs their rival had as part of an exclusivity deal.

Apple currently has 69 percent of the online music sales market in America. Amazon.com is the second-largest online music retailer in the country, with eight percent.

According to the Des Moines Register, Urbandale, Iowa police are investigating the death of SLIPKNOT’s bass guitarist at a local hotel.

Paul Dedrick Gray, 38, of Johnston was found dead at approximately 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at TownePlace Suites (pictured below), 8800 Northpark Drive, police said.

There was no evidence of foul play, police said.

According to KCCI.com, the Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in the death investigation and will perform an autopsy on Tuesday. Toxicology testing will be completed to determine if there were any contributing factors in the death of Gray, police said.

Witnesses reported that items from the hotel room were carried out of the hotel around 2 p.m.

Gray was born in Los Angeles, California, and later moved to Des Moines.

Wikipedia shows that Gray has been married for two years to GodsGirls’ Brenna Paul and has a tattoo of her name on his knuckles.

In a December 2009 posting on his MySpace page, Gray revealed that his wife was pregnant with the couple’s first child. “I am the happiest man on the face of the earth — literally!” he wrote. He added, “This has been the best Christmas I have ever had!”

In April 2010 it was announced that Paul Gray had joined HAIL!, the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim “Ripper” Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA). He was supposed to replace the group’s original member, David Ellefson, who was unable to take part in HAIL!’s upcoming touring activities due to his renewed collaboration with MEGADETH. At the time, Paul Gray stated about his involvement with HAIL!: “This is going to be amazing! After I heard the news about David reuniting with MEGADETH I touched base with Andreas and everything fell into place pretty immediately. I was excited about what they were doing and their whole attitude is just cool, old school camaraderie and fun and I wanted to share that with them. Fortunately, I had this window of time available as SLIPKNOT are on break so the timing worked perfectly. These guys have been through it all and they represent true metal brotherhood. I like that and I’m glad to now be a part of it. I can’t wait, I wish we’d leave tomorrow. These shows are going to kick ass!”

Back in 2003, authorities agreed to drop drug possession charges against Paul Gray in exchange for Gray’s acknowledgement that he was on drugs when he was involved in a minor traffic accident in the summer of 2003 in Des Moines.

Des Moines police arrested Gray on June 1, 2003 after his car collided with a car at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Carpenter Avenue.

A police report at the time said Gray “had impaired balance, slurred and dull speech, and extremely sleepy and dull behavior.”

In the November 2008 issue of Revolver magazine, Gray spoke openly about his struggle with drug addiction and how it affected SLIPKNOT during the songwriting and recording process for both 2001′s “Iowa” and 2004′s “Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses”.

“I was pissed at Corey [Taylor, SLIPKNOT vocalist] and Jim [Root, SLIPKNOT guitarist] for doing [their side project] STONE SOUR,” he said. “I thought, ‘Fuck, we should be working on SLIPKNOT.’ But we really needed that time apart. During the downtime I played with UNIDA and jammed with friends, but mostly I did a lot of drinking and some drugs — some heavy, heavy drugs… lots of heroin. I was shooting speedballs every day. And then pills. I was on everything, man. In the beginning I kind of had my shit under control, but after a while, no. I became an addict.”

He added, “I wrote a bunch of stuff [for 'Vol. 3'] — like I do every record — but I would spend half the time in the bathroom [shooting up]. I’d be trying to play, and I’d fall out of my chair a couple times and fall asleep in the middle of tracking a song. There was a lot of depression going on. I wasn’t mad at anybody, but everyone else was and I felt, ‘Oh, fuck, my family is falling apart.’ This has been the best thing that ever happened to me. And once you get to a certain point with drugs it’s fuckin’ so hard going through withdrawal. It’s not that you don’t want to quit. You just can’t. Halfway through the record, the band had an intervention on me and I ended up going to rehab.”

He continued, “Going through rehab in L.A. kept me good for a little while, but then we got back out on the road and I just knew too many people and I started using a lot again on and off. I had some near-death experiences — nothing I’m gonna go into any detail about — but I definitely pushed it to the very end and I’m still here. I have friends, though, who pushed it just the same way, and they are dead. Finally, I got left in rehab at the end of the arena tour with SHADOWS FALL and LAMB OF GOD and I missed the last six shows. Then, afterwards… Well, idle hands do the devil’s work. I met my wife and she stayed with me and helped me, but then I’d full on run with it. Finally she said, ‘I can’t sit around and watch you kill yourself.’ I was living in L.A. at the time, which wasn’t helping because it was so easy [to get drugs]. So, I moved back to Iowa with her and went to my doctor and got straightened out. And it’s been a good couple years now that I’ve been clean.”

SLAYER was the musical guest on last night’s (Thursday, May 20) edition of ABC-TV’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. This marked the band’s first appearance since vocalist/bassist Tom Araya had back surgery earlier this year, and the second time the group has performed on “Kimmel”, having made its network television debut on the show in January 2007.

For the telecast, SLAYER performed “World Painted Blood”, the title track from its latest album, as well as “Hate Worldwide” over the show’s closing credits. In addition, the band played three more songs — “War Ensemble”, “Blood Red” and “Spirit In Black” — on the show’s outdoor stage in front of an SRO crowd.

The “Kimmel” appearance precedes the band’s busy summer touring schedule that will kick off on May 26 with extensive touring throughout Europe, and will include several Sonisphere festival appearances where SLAYER will be part of the “Big Four” — METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, and ANTHRAX. The band will return to North America in late July to co-headline (with MEGADETH) the east coast Canadian Carnage tour, and then, starting August 11, the American Carnage tour.

Wildlife:

Hunting:
Hunting was a vital means of survival in the West. In Red Dead Redemption, animals in the ecosystem will prey on each other – and sometimes even on you or your horse. Protect and defend yourself with the aid of trusty weapons and tools – or go on the offensive and hunt for sport and profit. You can purchase special items to aid in hunting and drawing out more elusive game. After a successful kill, animals can be skinned or plucked and then traded for goods with local merchants.

Honor:
Your Honor changes based on the choices you make. Behaving honorably by rescuing stranded travelers, helping townsfolk in need or choosing to capture instead of killing criminals for bounty will increase your Honor. Honorable men earn favorable discounts with merchants, and lawmen turn a blind eye to small crimes. You are of course always free to choose a dishonorable path instead; killing townsfolk, stealing horses and robbing banks will see your Honor plummet… but it might also make you rich.

Fame:
The actions you take will also affect your Fame throughout the territories. Becoming more famous will have its rewards: people will come to you for help and greet you by name; shopkeepers will give you discounts, and new opportunities for work will open on the frontier. But a famous gunslinger attracts attention, and gunfighters will come out of the woodwork to challenge you to duels in the hope of making a name for themselves.

Multiplayer – Free Roam:
Free Roam brings the open-world experience to multiplayer for up-to-16 players, with the opportunity to form posses of up-to-8 to take on the world’s gang hideouts, ambient challenges – and each other. Free Roam also gives players a living, breathing world instead of a generic game lobby – with the freedom to roam the open expanse, hunting or creating shootouts before heading into competitive game modes – and leveling up with every major action. To coincide with the band’s 30th anniversary tour, Bad Religion have released their new live album called 30 Years Live, which was a released as a free download for those who sign up on the mailing list at Bad Religion’s website. It consists of songs recorded during their House of Blues tour during March and April of 2010 which also includes some new songs from their 15th studio album, before the new album was released. 30 Years Live was released on 18 May 2010.

At the House of Blues concert in Anaheim, California on 17 March 2010, the band debuted a new song called “Resist-Stance”, which is included on 30 Years Live.

‘Nightmare’ is the title track from the group’s upcoming album, which is scheduled for release on July 27. On February 17, 2010, Avenged Sevenfold stated that they had entered the studio, along with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, to drum for the record, in place of the Rev. “I want our fans to know that with Jimmy in our hearts, our journey to record has officially began. Jimmy helped leave this world an amazing gift and now it’s our job to make sure to deliver that gift to our fans. We asked Jimmy’s all time favorite drummer Mike Portnoy to record on behalf of him. Mike said it would be an honor and without question that’s what Jim would have wanted. It’s comforting to us that someone like Mike, who is undoubtedly revered as one of the best drummers in the world, held such respect and adoration for the Rev’s abilities. Even though it will never be the same without our brother by our side, his essence lives in our hearts and through the music he helped create. He was a legend before any of the success or any of that bullshit and we are fucking excited to lay this down for our fans, and especially for Jimmy.”

Ronnie James Dio, whose soaring vocals, poetic lyrics and mythic tales of a never-ending struggle between good and evil broke new ground in heavy metal, died Sunday, according to a statement from his wife and manager. He was 67.

Dio revealed last summer that he was suffering from stomach cancer shortly after wrapping up a tour in Atlantic City, N.J. with the latest incarnation of Black Sabbath, under the name Heaven And Hell.

“Today my heart is broken,” Wendy Dio wrote on the singer’s site, adding he died at 7:45 a.m. “Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

“Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all,” Wendy Dio continued. “We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us … Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”

The statement was confirmed by Los Angeles publicist Maureen O’Connor.

Dio rose to fame in 1975 as the first lead singer of Rainbow, the heavy metal band put together by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who had just quit Deep Purple.

Dio then replaced legendary vocalist Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1980 with the critically acclaimed album “Heaven And Hell,” considered by many critics to be one of the finest heavy metal albums of all time. His on-again, off-again tenure with Black Sabbath touched off an intense debate among fans as to which singer was the true essence of the band — a discussion that lasted until his death.

He also enjoyed a successful solo career with his self-titled band, Dio, in between his three stints with Black Sabbath (1980-82; 1992; and 2007-2009, when the band toured as Heaven And Hell, to differentiate it from Osbourne-led versions of Sabbath). Many of his most memorable songs revolved around the struggle between good and evil, including his signature tune “Heaven And Hell.” He also drew heavily on medieval imagery in songs like “Neon Knights,” “Killing The Dragon” and “Stargazer.”

“He possessed one of the greatest voices in all of heavy metal, and had a heart to match it,” said Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French, whose band toured with Dio since 1983, and was to do so again this summer at European rock festivals. “He was the nicest, classiest person you would ever want to meet.”

Dio organized an all-star charity collaboration in 1986 called “Hear N Aid” to raise money for famine relief in Africa, styled on the successful “We Are The World” campaign of a few years earlier. His solo hits included “Rainbow In The Dark, “The Last In Line” and “Holy Diver.”

Stone Sour have announced that their new album will be titled Audio Secrecy. The disc, which will be released this summer, was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush) and recorded at John McBride’s Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN.

Vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga will perform material from Audio Secrecy on this summer’s 36-date Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, which begins August 17 in Minneapolis, MN, and runs through October 4, where it closes in Madison, WI.

Audio Secrecy is the long-awaited follow-up to Come What(ever) May, which was certified gold, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, and scored three hit singles for the band. Their self-titled debut album is also gold.

Vocalist Corey Taylor says that the new album “is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for. The dimensions go further than anything we’ve ever tried before. It’s metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it’s real. You can’t get an album like this out of a band that doesn’t exist. We’re throwing caution out the damn window.”
